TAKEAWAYS FROM HIS JOURNEY

Opportunities Can Come at a Price | The Great Room

Opportunities Can Come at a Price

When starting his business, Martin was quick to take on jobs that gave the company cash without looking at the bigger picture. Sometimes these jobs would keep him entangled with the wrong people and with too low of a return for far too long. He didn't have a clear direction, and realised that even opportunities came at a price.

Adventure Means to Let Go | The Great Room

Adventure Means to
Let Go

"Let go of expectations of how things should be, and move into new territories despite the fear of the unknown. This doesn't necessarily involve travel. Adventures can also explore the inside of our minds and soul. But travel is probably the best initiator of adventure because, by default, it disrupts your routine. I can't imagine a life without adventure."

Once Martin feels like he is stalling, his next adventure is in the works.

Failure is the Currency You Pay for Wisdom | The Great Room

Failure is the Currency You Pay for Wisdom

Martin overcome any bad move by questioning whether it was a bad move to begin with. Sometimes, bad moves turn out to be the right ones in hindsight.

"If I really do feel like I messed up, I try to forgive myself and move on—failure is the currency you pay for wisdom. That way, you can see every wrong step as an investment into your future."

Untold Part of Any Story | The Great Room

The Most Untold Part of Any Story are When You Want to Give Up

"We tend to romanticise the journey as if it were a singular experience, but doubts and frustration are firmly packed in the suitcase, just as hopes and dreams are. Especially during the pandemic, I had doubts that I wanted to continue on this path. But I did. Ultimately, it's about allowing your fears in on the journey. They're not an enemy. They are a necessary driver for us to navigate the path."
